Power Distributon Units for AS 60038-2000

Wednesday, March 29, 2017

In Australia the nominal voltage is 230 volts for 50Hz ac. Basically the nominal voltage is by which an electrical system is designated. Originally nominal voltage was 240 volts, however was changed by the International Electrotechnical Commission IEC. Furthermore Standards Australia/Standards New Zealand Committee prepared and issued AS 60038—2000. The latter standard set nominal voltage at 230 volts with a +10% to –6% variation at the point of supply. Recently AS 61000.3.100—2011 was published pertinent to steady voltages being provided to customers power supply. Moreover issues for tolerance levels with plus and minus levels for 230 nominal voltages are outlined, as well as, recommendations for network service providers to adhere to for steady power supply at customers connections.

The incandescent lighting technology can be problematic with the varying tolerance levels of steady power supply.

The POWERSHIELD® UPS Defender range uses Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR) to minimise the effects of fluctuations in input voltage protecting your valuable equipment from power line disturbances.
